I took a vacation not on purpose but on accident. On June 29th I was working the NOC shift at work and they had cleaned the carpets and I did not know so I was in a fast walk on the way to the residents room and went from carpet to hardwood floor. I hit that floor hard and lost my balance causing me not to fall but to slide across the floor and slam into the wall at full force. I sprained my back, knee and had a contusion on my thumb. Right away I could tell I gave my body a good Jarring because I started to have shortness of breath and was hobbling around. I called my manager and she immediately sent in someone to relieve me. Then off to the ER I went was in and out of there with in a half hour (can you imagine?) Three days off with my leg elevated was what they told me, fun right with my three kids and husband who can't walk.
3 days later I went to my follow up appointment and I was given a knee immobilizer to wear and crutches to use (oye!) and then a follow up 4 days later. That 4 days later was today, I went in and my back/thumb were better but not my knee. My knee is exactly the same so I am still on sedentary duty and still have to wear the knee immobilizer and crutches. My work has been amazing through this all, The General Manager, My Manager and another fill in manager have all called to check in on me as well as my co-workers. That is such a nice feeling. Tomorrow I go back to work and am sad that I am still in this position and not able to help my team. I hope this heals with the twice a week physical therapy.

The Life of a Mommy
A while ago I gave up trying to potty train my almost 4 year old son. He is as stubborn as a mule and smart as smart can be when it comes to going potty in the toilet he is the boss and will have the control. We were at a point where he was awesome pooping has never been a problem. He was going in the toilet every time, then he started to regress.
I know boys are harder then girls for the most part and when I asked my Pediatrician when I should expect him to be potty trained. His response "anytime from 3 to 53" LOL I believe him now. As a mother it is hard not to have everything perfect and to listen to everyone who's child potty trained exceptionally fast and with no effort at all. Boy those stories get old fast when you are on the other side of the fence.
A long time ago I decided not to be the mom who forces your child to potty train in anyway that is not of their own free will. My son will potty train on his own, we have given him the tools and now it is up to him to use them. It may take a while but he will do it and when he does it will be done the right way with full confidence on his part.
When you talk to someone who is in my position just remember that we are trying our best and your super success stories make us feel like failures.

Laid off
It seems this term is chasing around everyone of us these days. About three weeks before our wedding my husband was "laid off" We were the last couple of our friends to be hit and had been running from it for months. We made it through the holidays but man it blew our honeymoon. My husband who has worked since he was 8 was now at home and I had just gone back to work so luckily we were saved there. Income taxes paid for our wedding and helped with bills till unemployment kicked in but there were no jobs in sight for his skill set. We had read Total Money Makeover and that really saved our butt. We buy everything in bulk, cut down on the extra's, and are just doing everything we can to stay afloat. We are not by anymeans perfect and cut it tight some months. We fight over bills and money but right now who doesn't. We have two growing mouths to feed. My husband is working in Real Estate and doing better than most he has some deals waiting to go through and once they do we will have our safety net. I am in school for accounting and I use every resource I can even though they are small. We are too middle class to get much help even with him laid off due to what I make and his unemployment. But if you are going through the same thing don't be bashful or afraid to accept kindness from others. At this time in this country we should be there for everyone and remember to put something in your mailbox May 9th to stamp out hunger cause even if we are hungry someone is hungrier than us and we can help them. Remember to love your spouse during this time as it is stressful for everyone involved don't break apart come together and support each other. The laid off one already feels like a failure.
